Addiction is Everywhere
If you feel you are addicted to something don't worry. You are not on your own. According to some sources approximately 1 in every three of us is addicted to something. When people mention addiction they instantly think of hard drugs or alcoholism. Addiction can come in many guises. From hard drugs like heroin or cocaine through to the seemingly lesser problems such as being addicted to work or tobacco. Other things people get addicted to are quite normal everyday things that the majority of the population use at some time every day such as.
Phone or internet.
People spend hours surfing the web on their mobile or laptops. Some people including gamers take this to the extreme spending whole days locked away whilst neglecting other areas of their lives.
Work.
Others get obsessed with their work spending most of their time there while there private lives suffer. As with every other activity there must be a balance.
Solvents
Inhaling glue or aerosols can be extremely dangerous and can quite easily result in death. Along with being very anti social it can be very harmful to there physical health.
Shopping
People can get a great feel good factor from the buzz of buying a new item. This is fine and is ok to treat yourself now and again until it becomes a problem where as the person falls into debt and cant afford their bills etc any more.
Gambling
Lots of people like the odd flutter but often times it can get out of hand. Many people have found it hard to quit gambling resulting in the breakdown of marriage and spiraling into serious debt.
Smoking
I don't have to bang on about the dangers of smoking. It is widely know that tobacco is harmful and can cause serious health problems including death.
All of these can result in serious problems. Be it through their health or social life. It will show up somewhere. The good news is that addictions are treatable.
